A native New Yorker, Carrington MacDuffie began her work with poetry before the writing callus had formed on her tender finger. After an adolescence of songwriting, she attended graduate and undergraduate writing and arts programs at Johns Hopkins University, Boston University and Harvard, taking her bachelor's in English at B.U., where she was awarded the Undergraduate Poetry Prize. Her first editorial position was with Berkley Books in New York, editing fiction for the mass market. She went on to freelance in both book and magazine publishing as editor and writer, in New York and Los Angeles, while writing songs and performing with her 7-piece band at night.

Carrington has published poetry in journals internationally, and her first book, ON THE DREAMING EARTH, was published by Subaqueous Press in 2003. She has performed at a wide range of venues in New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans and the Pacific Northwest, in productions ranging from one-woman spoken-word performances to stage shows integrating surreal world/pop music with live painting, body painting, filmmaking, and slide projection. She currently makes her living as a voiceover actor, specializing in audiobook narration. She can be found on the web at www.lunacydewpoint.com.

Carrington brings to Square Lake a passion for poetry that feels crucial to the re-imagining of our culture and ourselves. As editor, she strives to bring together voices of equal passion and vision, regardless of strata or style, hopefully encouraging that union of differences that is required for the collective consciousness to move forward into its next cycle.
